During your stay in Luxor, experience an unforgettable excursion with a flight to Cairo. Marvel at the unique and legendary sights of Egypt’s capital. You have the opportunity to choose one of two excursions: Pharaonic Cairo = the famous Giza Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili Bazar. Or Religious Cairo = the Hanging Church, Abu Serga Church, Cairo Citadel, Alabaster Mosque and Khan El Khalili Bazar.
Overview
You will be picked up from the hotel in Luxor early in the morning. Transfer to the airport for the domestic flight to Cairo. The flight time is approximately one hour. Immediately upon arrival, you will be greeted by our professional guide, who will provide you with support and advice throughout the entire tour.
* Guests who have chosen the “Pharaonic Cairo” Excursion will first visit the Pyramids of Giza , which are considered the oldest and most famous structures of mankind. They are the only surviving of the seven wonders of the ancient world and they are protected by the largest Sphinx. Then have your lunch at a local restaurant. The journey then continues to the Egyptian Museum , which is located in downtown Cairo, on Tahrir Square. It is the world’s largest museum of ancient Egyptian art from different eras, where you can also admire treasures of immeasurable value, such as the jewelry and objects from the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun, who died young. The day ends with an interesting walk through the unique Khan El-Khalili bazaar with many shopping opportunities. Khan-El-Khalili Bazar was founded as a trading market in the 14th century. Then transfer to Cairo airport for the return flight to Luxor. Arrival in Luxor and transfer to your hotel and farewell.
*Guests who choose the “Religious Cairo” Excursion will admire the most important sights in the Coptic and Islamic quarters of Old Cairo. Firstly, you will visit the most famous Coptic church in Cairo, the hanging church “El-Muallaqa” from the 4th century, which was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Then visit the Abu Serga Church , also called St. Sergius and Bacchus Church, where the Holy Family is said to have rested on their way to Egypt. After a break for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, the journey continues to visit the Islamic Quarter. You’ll admire Cairo’s 12th-century Citadel of Salah-el-Din. From the citadel you have a great view of Cairo’s old town. There you will visit the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali Pasha , which will be overwhelmed by the width and height of the domed space. Then you stroll through the lively Khan El Khalili Bazar , which is an important trading center with many alleys, shops and cafés, to find out more about the country and its people.
The end of the day you will be transferred to Cairo airport for your return flight to Luxor with transfer to your hotel.
