- Day: Luxor to Aswan: Sights of Aswan
Starting from your hotel in Luxor, you will depart for Aswan in an air-conditioned vehicle accompanied by our guide. You will enjoy the trip in a small group, which will give you a very special insight and closeness to today’s Egypt. In Aswan, Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk are waiting to be discovered. Aswan is a popular holiday destination because of its dry climate and picturesque river landscape with its rocky Nile islands.
First, we go by motorboat to the island of Agelika to visit the Philae Temple , which was the last late center of ancient Egyptian religion for 800 years. Afterwards you will visit the High Dam with the reservoir, which has a surface area of 5000 square kilometers. We then drive to the granite quarries, where you can marvel at the unfinished obelisk. Enjoy lunch in a typical local restaurant .
Finally, you will be picked up at your hotel in Aswan.
In the evening you have a wonderful experience: a city tour by horse-drawn carriage to gain fascinating insights into everyday Egyptian life. Relax as you cruise through the city’s streets, gardens and pedestrian walkways. - Day: Abu Simbel excursion from Aswan:
Pick up is early in the morning. A breakfast will be packed from your hotel in Aswan. Accompanied by our expert guide, you will travel south in a private, air-conditioned vehicle (approx. 280 m) to marvel at the masterpieces of ancient Egyptian architecture on Lake Nasser in Abu Simbel. The two rock temples of Abu Simbel reflect the glory and greatness of the ancient Egyptian kingdom. The large rock temple is dedicated to Ramses II and the gods Ptah, Re-Harakhte and Amun-Re and the small one to his wife Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. Due to the rising water level of the reservoir after the construction of the high dam, the rock temples had to be saved from disappearing in the water. They were rebuilt true to the original in 5 years 64 m above and 180 m inland from their original location under artificially raised concrete domes. Abu Simbel was a wonder in ancient times, now it is also a modern wonder of the world. After seeing the ِAbu simbel Temples you will be driven back to Aswan; There you will have lunch at a local restaurant, followed by free time to rest before driving back to your hotel in Luxor.
